Yellow Journalism

With the rise of the industrial nation, labor unions, populism, and immigration concerns, America was divided. Theodore Roosevelt knew that America needed something to come together.  The rebellion in Cuba was a perfect opportunity for America to join together and support a common cause, so he pushed hard for America to take action against the Spanish in Cuba.  One technique that contributed to the American intervention in Cuba came to be known as "Yellow Journalism."
The main purpose of "Yellow Journalism" was to create exciting and sensational stories to gain the support of the audience even if the story and facts had to be altered.
