Process Paper
The topic I choose was Yellow Journalism vs. Regular Journalism during the Spanish-American War era. I took many steps getting my final topic. I started with how Filipinos gained their rights and independence in America to the Filipino point of view in the Spanish-American War to The Spanish-American War to Yellow Journalism to my final topic, Yellow Journalism vs. Regular Journalism during the Spanish-American War era.
I conducted my research efficiently and thoroughly. Although it seems my information was not thorough, I used many sources to reinforce my research. I tried to use as many primary resources as I could find including quotes, pictures, and newspapers during that time. I used online sources more than I did book sources, but I found the books more helpful.
With all the different choices for the project, one stood out the most. The one that caught my attention was the website. I chose the website because I never made my own website and I was interested in doing so. I have much experience in technology and I wanted to use my knowledge to create the project. The website gave me the convenience of working on the computer and not with big display boards or with video cameras. The website also saved me the work of cutting out backgrounds and designs for a display board.
My project relates to the NHD theme of debate because it is about the highly controversial “Yellow Journalism” vs. Regular Journalism. Debate is a domestic controversy between two sides and my topic is between the yellow journalists against the regular journalists.
